Marti Balcom, Founder and Prez

Over thirty years ago Marti formed The Balcom Group to offer the value of a skilled team of meeting professionals to enable select clients to receive superior meeting and conference management services that facilitate furthering their organization’s mission. It was then and remains to be about supporting organizations that are creating change and working to improve people’s lives.  Simultaneously, The Balcom Group staff have had the unique opportunity to work with people who champion issues that affect societal change. More than thirty years later this company philosophy holds strong.

Marti is an expert conference planner and designer. She has the unique ability to see the big picture and to run a conference that satisfies the goals of her clients while surpassing their expectations. She understands the endless details required to pull off a successful event. We all know the devil is in the details. Her experience, along with her deep knowledge of her craft and her understanding of the importance of solid relationship with her clients, partners and suppliers allows Marti to be a valuable resource, ally, colleague, and friend.

In 2018 Hilton Hotels hosted their Wowmakers Make Amazing Happen Contest, receiving stories from meeting planners and professionals across North America about how they went above and beyond to design a memorable event or travel experience. Marti was delighted to be a first prize winner! Marti shared the story of how she researched and implemented Color Theory to bring her client’s theme of “Connections, Intersections, and Collaborations” to life and make an emotional impact on attendees.

And since family is important to the team at The Balcom Group, we would not be complete without our loving companions – dogs! Marti loves her two babies, Gemma and Popeye, and living in the incredible New Jersey Pine Barrens where they can enjoy their long walks, hikes, and kayak trips.  Marti also has a keen interest in foraging mushrooms and continues her studies with likeminded folks who share this obsession (oh, I mean interest!).
